TVNZ was going to air the royal coronation broadcast. As it was such a rare broadcast occasion (second time since TVs were invented), and with all the royal drama at the time, we knew it was going to pull in large audience numbers.
So we grabbed the opportunity and sold in a multi-brand ad-break takeover. Featuring no other than the infomercial queen and expert at selling anything on TV from the 90’s and early 2000’s -Suzanne Paul.
I proactively pitched this idea when I saw the predicted viewer numbers. I then wrote, art directed the shoot, and even snuck myself in as one of her butlers for part of it. On top of that, Suzanne Paul made it back to the screens to teach Kiwis how to live like royalty with Arnott’s, Burger King, Liqourland and Summerset.
