Skinny is a budget telco. To keep prices low and customers happy, they use people with celebrity names instead of actual celebrities in their ads, Everyone from Ben Affleck to Julia Roberts (from New Zealand) has been featured.

But Skinny hadn’t done any local celebrities and wanted to tap in to local NZ pop culture. So we did it with one of the most well-known TV personalities from New Zealand’s longest-running drama -Shortland Street.

We shot on the set of the show and stitched our TVC on to episodes, blending the worlds of the show and our commercial. Viewers wouldn’t realise we had cut to commercial until they saw that the main character, Chris Warner, was replaced with a different Chris Warner, but from Kaukapakapa.
